This Week's New Podcast
The Joe Rogan Experience October 6, 2013, 7:00pm ET/4:00pm PT
We’re not going to get political here. But we did want to
recognize NASA’s
birthday 55 years ago, on October 1, 1958. And for those of
you
concerned that the government shutdown will result in satellites falling
from the sky, astronauts dying from neglect, and space telescopes
spinning
wildly, no longer under the control of their earthbound
masters, never fear.
Apparently, NASA submitted a plan for the
shutdown to the Office of Management
and Budget, but, unfortunately,
that plan is hosted on NASA’s website, which we
can’t access because
the site is down. Read
more.

What challenges await humanity on our journey into space, and will we be
up to the task? Find out when Neil deGrasse Tyson and Chuck Nice discuss
why pressurized suits are required for spacewalks, how the Sun’s ionizing
radiation can harm humans, and other dangers of space exploration. Find
out about colonizing Mars, from food being developed by NASA to the Mars
One project. Learn about conditions on Mars that allow water to simultaneously
coexist as a liquid, a solid and a gas. Neil and Chuck also speculate on sports
in space, and for Harry Potter fans, how zero gravity will impact Quidditch,
brooms, and the Golden Snitch. Listen now.
