ISSUE 99: IF YOU HATE UNMANNED RED LIGHT AND SPEED CAMERAS IN MAPLE HTS, VOTE "YES" FOR ISSUE 99

If you're confused by these postcards you've been getting, let's make it simple.  Issue 99 has to do with a charter amendment involving traffic cameras.

Do you absolutely hate these unmanned speed cameras in Maple Hts?  Did you or a friend or loved one get a speed camera ticket and you're mad as hell?

Do you think that there will be more of these unmanned speed cameras or red light cameras coming to Maple Heights and you hate that idea?

Well, we guess you have only one choice.   Vote "YES" on Issue 99 (which again has to do with a charter amendment).

The wording is confusing, but if you don't like the unmanned speed cameras and you know there may be a lot more coming, vote "yes" for the charter amendment (Issue 99).

It's a charter amendment.
PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT
(By Petition)
CITY OF MAPLE HEIGHTS
A majority affirmative vote is required for passage.
Shall the Charter of the City of Maple Heights be amended to add new Article XXII, which provides that the
City shall not use any traffic law photo-monitoring device for the enforcement of a qualified traffic law
violation, unless a law enforcement officer is present at the location of the device and personally issues the
ticket to the alleged violator at the time and location of the violation; and that the City shall not enter into, renew, amend, modify, or make any payment under a contract with a vendor for traffic law photo-monitoring devices or services if the contract involves payment to the vendor that is contingent upon the number of tickets issued or the amount of fines levied or; and that qualified traffic violations shall be tried only before ajudge in either municipal or common pleas court, and the accused will be afforded all rights then generally afforded to defendants in criminal cases under the constitutions and laws of the United States and the State of Ohio?

and I'm voting "yes"

My beef is the placement (areas placed) are unfair to certain groups of people.

Vote YES on 99 to end the use of the money grab ticket cameras on Maple Heights. In Cleveland, vote YES on 35 for the same thing. Ticket cameras lost 28 of 31 votes so far and 4 are on the November 4 ballot. By November 5 the score should be 32 losses for the cameras in 35 votes.

ACT and vote YES on 99. Stay silent if you want your wallet open to be pilfered by the money grab cameras.

"Another interesting consideration is where the money is coming from for this debate. The supporters of Issue 99 are mostly residents. The campaign against Issue 99 is backed with big money from outside the City. More information is available about the money behind the cameras in the article Maple Heights Issue 99: Supporters, Opponents and Big Money."

Much thanks to all the petitioners who fought all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court to get the charter amendment on the ballot so the voters could decide.

God bless you!!!
