WHAT POLITICAL PARTY HAS THE POWER?

I have several questions to ask.

1. What political party controls the Ohio Senate, the Ohio House and the US House of Representatives?

2. What political party (in the above) has the majority to pass legislation and make cuts to programs, cities, etc?

I hope you said the Republican Party

Here's the stats:
Ohio House
Latest voting shares:  Republicans 60.6%, Democrats 39.4%

Ohio Senate:
Latest voting shares: Republicans 69.7%,  Democrats 30.3%

US House of Representatives
Republicans 233 Democrats 199

You've got  some politicians   in Maple Hts and other individuals running around pointing fingers at Black Democrats for some of the financial woes in Maple Hts.

Look at the figures  (above) and tell me what political party has the power (the voting majority)?

Clearly it's not Democrats [which also means it's not  Black Democrats] in the Ohio House, the Ohio Senate or the US House of Representatives.

Why aren't Maple Heights politicians and others asking for help from the politicians [Republicans] who have the power to perhaps do something?  Sounds like a good question, ... right? Maybe they did.  Don't know .. ask them.

Okay, now that we know what political party has the majority of the votes to perhaps do something to help Maple Heights financial problems, what are the real motives of Maple Heights politicians and others for pointing fingers at Black Democrats in those seats who don't have the majority voting shares?  Then you tell me how you feel about those people who pointed the fingers.

For clarity: Maple Heights has far more complex reasons for its financial woes than just some government cuts.

GET UPDATES ON ON DEFENSE SECRETARY NOMINEE CHUCK HAGEL

votevets.org

Moments ago, the Senate Armed Services Committee nominated Senator Chuck Hagel by a party-line vote of 14 to 11.

The next stop is a vote before the full Senate, and that could happen as early as tomorrow.

As you can tell by the margin of today's vote, it could be a close one. But there's never been a filibuster of a Defense Secretary in the history of the United States, and hopefully Republicans won't start now.

News is breaking quickly, so the best way to get updates is to follow us on our VoteVets Twitter page or join the conversation on Facebook.

Thanks for taking action on behalf of Senator Hagel. I know that he personally appreciates your efforts.

Best,

DEMOCRATS MUST TAKE BACK THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IN 2012

Obama, Yes. And Win the House Too. by Roger Hickey

"President Obama is enjoying a post-convention bump in job approval (Gallup says 7 percentage points - from 45 to 52 percent) after the negative and divisive Republican convention, followed by the energetic populism of the Democrats in Charlotte. With large leads among women and people of color, and the stark contrast on economic issues building movement toward Obama even among white males in key states, the prospects for Obama winning a second term are starting to look pretty good.

But what about the House? Prospects for Dems keeping the Senate are looking better, but if the House of Representatives stays in Republican hands, even if President Obama is re-elected his second term will be crippled. Obama can still name good Supreme Court justices, and he can veto terrible legislation - both good reasons to vote for him - but, in the face of Republican obstructionism, he will be virtually powerless to pass economic recovery laws aimed at creating jobs and getting the economy growing and not shrinking.

WE'VE LOST OUR WAY

A friend and I were talking this morning about different races and cultures.  Italians, Hispanics/Latinos, Greeks, Jews, Muslims, and other races and cultures embrace who they are.  What is wrong with us (African Americans)?  Is the legacy of slavery so entrenched that we’ve lost our way?

We come from (are descendants of) Kings and Queens, a people who built an awesome legacy/civilization.  You/We have just temporarily lost our way.  We can find our way back.  You can become Kings and Queens again.  We all (no matter what race) can become Kings and Queens.

We just have to get out of each other’s way and concentrate on what it means to be equal, free, healthy, prosperous, and vibrant; and how our communities can become places that are diverse, healthy, prosperous, vibrant and truly joyful.

On a national level, the now (in power) right-wing radical Republican Party is a false prophet.  They will lead all of us into the wilderness, and we see the weeds/thorns of their ideology already.  Moderate Republicans are upset with the direction their party is going in.  They are leaving their own party.

Progressives in the Democratic Party are upset with corporate (New) Democrats.

Unless there is true equality, where everybody wins, most of us end up losing.

This nation has lost its way; I believe Maple Heights under the present leadership has lost its way.  It’s time to find our way back.
