"Marcus Garvey and his organization, the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), represent the largest mass movement in African-American history. Proclaiming a black nationalist "Back to Africa" message, Garvey and the UNIA established 700 branches in thirty-eight states by the early 1920s. While chapters existed in the larger urban areas such as New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles, Garvey's message reached into small towns across the country as well. Later groups such as Father Divine's Universal Peace Mission Movement and the Nation of Islam drew members and philosophy from Garvey's organization, and the UNIA's appeal and influence were felt not only in America but in Canada, the Caribbean, and throughout Africa.
Garvey's philosophy and organization had a rich religious component that he blended with the political and economic aspects.
Considering the strong political and economic black nationalism of Garvey's movement, it may seem odd to include an essay on him in a Web site on religion in America. However, his philosophy and organization had a rich religious component that he blended with the political and economic aspects. Garvey himself claimed that his "Declaration of Rights of the Negro Peoples of the World," along with the Bible, served as "the Holy Writ for our Negro Race." He stated very clearly that "as we pray to Almighty God to save us through his Holy Words so shall we with confidence in ourselves follow the sentiment of the Declaration of Rights and carve our way to liberty." For Garvey, it was no less than the will of God for black people to be free to determine their own destiny. His organization took as its motto "One God! One Aim! One Destiny!" and looked to the literal fulfillment of Psalm 68:31: "Princes shall come out of Egypt: Ethiopia shall soon stretch forth her hands unto God." "

Did anyone hear about a recreation center being built?

If there is, only residents should be hired, and the staff must reflect the racial demographics in Maple Heights.

I think your mayor will try to staff the rec center w mostly white and/or his black supporters. Politicians buy their votes. Blacks are bought easily - w crumbs. How else do they accept a government where they have no voice, no power, and very very little representation.

For years the mayor's opponent asked for a recreation center, but his supporters would show up at council to campaign and verbally assault his opponent and verbally assault his opponent's desire for a recreation center.

What many people don't know is, that when the new schools were being discussed, they talked about a recreation center in one of the schools on/near Rockside (the white side of town).

The city of Maple Heights gets government money for many of its projects, and there are affirmative action agreements. I doubt any blacks have been hired for any of the city's projects, which would of course violate affirmative action agreements and gov't funding rules. Even if they hired 1 or 2, the city would still be in violation.

Heard the mayor hired a black cadet and promoted a female because of this blog and other blogs talking about his all white administration, and posting the affirmative action agreements. Before that there was only 1 in 2011 on the police force. He probably pretty much chased the other 2 (?) black cops out of Maple Heights. Of course there's no blacks in the fire department, no blacks heading departments, even the school system (look at most of those employees -though the mayor I don't believe has any decision making regarding hiring school employees ?)

This is what is rumored. 4 or 5 rogue cops have been harassing residents and other blacks.

They or the mayor's supporters may have even hired or encouraged blacks to disrupt the neighborhoods so they could all say "see blacks are unruly" and they shouldn't be in power.

I think you need a 4 or 5 year look back and forward from serious gov't justice agencies ... looking into the hiring of contractors, hiring of gov't employees, violations of federal law, etc

I think heads will roll ... that, or the Feds/State etc are in bed w the local gov't which allows the mayor and the police, etc to get away w a whole lot of stuff.

I bet this guy was bugging his opponent and anyone he thought sided w his opponent last year.

In order to do it, he'd have to try to accuse them of something.

Yeah, .. this guy needs his stuff bugged by gov't officials to see what dirt he's been up to.

Hey . call a Maple Heights government department and lo and behold a white person will answer the phone either 10 times out of 10 or 9 out of 10.

You guys need to hire outside investigators to look into all that's discussed in this comment section.

Effective charismatic Black leaders like Garvey and Malcom X, are now finding themselves guests of the prison industrial complex.
