African Americans make up an estimated 70% of the population in Maple Heights. Home foreclosures have continued and have deeply affected the African American community.
In light of the fact that African Americans (and other minorities) feel this adminstration has failed to adequately address the high number of home foreclosures; and their needs, wants, and concerns are not being addressed by Maple Heights public employees (esp. elected officials), we are looking for qualified African American, and Hispanic/Latino candidates to run for public office.
In addition to being a Maple Heights resident for at least a year, the qualified candidate must:
1. Be committed to addressing the needs, wants, and concerns of his/her district's or city's residents (if running for Mayor) ... that includes answering resident's questions in a timely manner.
2. Be either a parent with children in the Maple Heights school system, or have a positive connection with Maple Heights school system.
3. An outgoing personality
4. Have be able to deal with financial problems
5. Be willing to work with all Maple Heights residents (especially seniors and children)
6. Be creative with a 21st century vision.
7. Leadership skills and/or management experience.
8. Be committed to the ownership-money-circulation principle which would help every resident in Maple Heights.
9. If applying for a council seat, you must live in the district you want to run in.
10. Must comply with the laws of the state of Ohio with regard to criminal background.
***We will not be supporting (the city council appointed) Charles Crews Jr. for a district 5 council seat or any Maple Heights elected office (at this time), as he has excluded residents at his city functions, and failed to respond to all inquiries/questions/requests from residents (in his district) about Maple Heights government.
