UMOJA KWANZAA CELEBRATION


The name Kwanzaa is derived from the phrase “matunda ya kwanza” which means “first fruits” in Swahili. 

Habari Gani is a Swahili term meaning “What is the news?” It is used when greeting others during Kwanzaa. The appropriate response is to say the name of the principle for that day. - - -  -
